Tamal Oaxaqueño, Oaxaca Mexico
I’ve said before, I’ll say it again – Oaxacan food is some of the best in the world.
And this, my friends, is a Oaxacan tamale. Not the cylindrical corn husked steaming parcel of deliciousness you may be used to. But instead it’s flatter, with more corners and wrapped in a banana leaf. No less delicious though!
Feeling tempted to try making them at home while I’m here in NZ and far, far away from my beloved Oaxaca. So stay tuned for my adventures in trying to make a mole, and find banana leaves here in New Zealand!
